Donation Drive
This is a picture of Mandy feeding a shelter dog one of the treats from a bag that was collected. She even asked him to sit for her and he listened. When giving the dogs treats, Mandy said to pay attention to the signs on the cages, because some of the dogs were on strict diets and couldn't receive treats.
Another important aspect of my capstone was not only to show people how to better understand their animals but to give back to those animals who don't have the luxuries that those with families do. I decided that the best way to give back was to hold a donation drive at my school for people to donate items towards the prosperity of the PSPCA shelter. I held the drive for about a week and a half, and I ended up receiving more than I had hoped.
This is a picture of my host Mandy Hood, who works at the PSPCA and assisted me throughout this whole project. She gave me some advice and lots of important information to talk about in my presentation. She was the main contact that I had before doing my donation drive to get ideas of what exactly people should donate.
This is a picture of Mandy putting one of the shoe boxes, that was collected, into one of the cat's cages. You can also see that she put a towel in the box for the cat to sleep on and be comfortable.
In the picture to the left, you can see that one of the shelter cats is playing with one of the donated cat scratchers. Before I took this picture, this cat was rubbing its face all over the scratcher and smelling the catnip. In the picture to the right, you can see another shelter cat playing with one of many pipe cleaners that were donated. Most of the cats that got pipe cleaners attached to their cages tried to eat the pipe cleaners.
